The singer participates in the commemorative production celebrating twenty years of the classic album The Black Parade, created by Lauren Tsai.
The alternative rock universe and contemporary pop aesthetics met in a surprising way in a new audiovisual production celebrating the trajectory of one of the most influential bands of the 2000s. The group My Chemical Romance surprised fans by releasing an animated short film titled Prelude to the End, created to mark two decades since the release of the iconic record The Black Parade. The artistic initiative brought together major names in current music, including singer Billie Eilish, who lent her voice to one of the main characters in the plot.

With a runtime of nine minutes, the project was developed through a direct collaboration between the musical group and visual artist Lauren Tsai, through her studio UNREAL INC. The short's narrative follows the journey of Astrid, a boarding school student voiced by Tsai herself. The young protagonist ventures through a playful and melancholic scenery known as the world of forgotten ideas, after trying to retrieve her sketchbook that had been discarded by the school authorities.
On this journey, the main character interacts with figures voiced by highly prominent special guests. Billie Eilish takes on the role of a friend of the protagonist, while indie singer Phoebe Bridgers plays Astrid's sister. The voice cast also features unexpected participations, such as renowned video game designer Hideo Kojima in the role of a teacher and actor John C. McGinley portraying the dean of the educational institution.
In statements released to the press, Lauren Tsai celebrated the partnership and highlighted the strong mutual admiration for frontman Gerard Way. The production combines the characteristic visual style of The Dying World animation universe with the track The End, which opens the band's famous concept album originally released in 2006. For Billie Eilish fans, the news reinforces the singer's artistic versatility, as she easily moves between different branches of pop culture and conceptual visual projects.
The release of the short film accompanies a series of special celebrations promoted by My Chemical Romance to celebrate the legacy of the historic record. In addition to the animation, the band made available an expanded edition of the album and held commemorative live performances on the Long Live The Black Parade tour. With this collaboration, Billie Eilish adds yet another important artistic experience to her portfolio, uniting her voice with a work that has marked generations of listeners around the world.
